Fertility Treatment and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can successfully treat infertility in women and in men, either by itself or in combination with ART (assisted reproductive technologies) such as IVF and IUI. There is a growing body of medical research that demonstrates the effectiveness of TCM for fertility.
Monica Legatt has extensive specialized training in the field of gynecology and fertility. She completed the 90-hour course “Comprehensive Perspectives on the Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management of Infertility.” This course covered treatments for fertility using alternative medicine interventions such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, fertility massage, fertility yoga and naturopathic medicine, as well as extensive instruction in Western medical fertility treatment by Klaus Wiemer PhD., Embryologist at The Northwest Center for Reproductive Sciences, Michael Opsahl, MS, Reproductive Endocrinologist at The Northwest Center for Reproductive Sciences, and Patricia Hunt PhD, professor and research biologist at Washington State University. This specialized training has uniquely prepared Monica to interface with her fertility patients’ Western physicians while they undergo treatments such as IVF or IUI.
Monica has also taken several courses on gynecology, women’s infertility and men’s reproductive disorders from Giovanni Maciocia. Maciocia is one of the world’s leading living authorities on Traditional Chinese Medicine and is the author of numerous textbooks and research studies. He is the author of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the definitive textbook on the topic used in TCM Colleges in the US, Europe, and worldwide.
