How Does Acupuncture Feel?

I came through Seattle with the national tour of "Wicked" and immediately had a reaction to the climate change, developing bronchitis and acid reflux, which I have never suffered as a singer before. After going to more than one traditional ENTs and getting all kinds of prescription medication that actually made me feel worse, I turned to Monica, hoping that she could help me get back in the show. After just 2 treatments and taking the herbs she gave me, as well as following the diet guidelines she had suggested, I felt so much better, both physically and mentally. She was always there to answer any questions I had and to fit me into her schedule whenever she could. I continued to see Monica until I left Seattle, and every single visit was a calming, healing experience. She has changed my entire opinion of acupuncture and opened my mind to a whole new way of health and wellness. I'm just sad that she doesn't live in New York, where I'm from!

I went to Monica when we first started trying to conceive. Her treatments were very calming, relaxing, and always made me feel better. Once I became pregnant, I continued to get acupuncture treatments throughout my first trimester to help ease the nausea and promote the positive energy I needed to make it through that fragile time period. I believe my acupuncture treatments helped me both physically and mentally to achieve a happy, healthy pregnancy.

I have always had irregular periods and was concerned about the possibility of ever getting pregnant when the time came in my life that I wanted to start a family. I asked each new doctor I saw throughout my late teens and 20's and they all shrugged off my concern, didn't give a good answer, and didn't seem to care. This was very upsetting! So when my husband and I decided it was time to try getting pregnant, I knew that Western medicine was going to be the last resort. My husband had previously seen Monica for back pain and I had heard that acupuncture is good for infertility, so we decided to give it a try and I made an appointment to see her. Monica was so caring and took the time to explain what she was doing since this was all so new to me. I really looked forward to my appointments and enjoyed the time to relax. She suggested two kinds of Chinese herbs that I took at different times during my cycles. I was already charting my temperatures and could see a noticable difference after starting the herbs! After 3 months of acupuncture treatments and herbs, my cycles became regular. Four months later, I'm pregnant!!

After experiencing post uterine ablation syndrome for several months, I sought out acupuncture treatment in hopes of relieving the painful episodes that were occurring on a monthly basis. I have been receiving regular acupuncture for six months now and I am experiencing significant decreased pain. Given the promising results, I plan to continue acupuncture in hopes of reducing my pain further!.

If you have not tried acupuncture then you are truly missing out on better health. I was asked by my doctor if I would like to try acupuncture. They could not help the pain I was having and I could hardly walk. I had to really think about it for a while because I thought needles weren't for me, but I was in so much pain that I decided to try acupuncture at least one time.

After the first visit I was so impressed: would you believe that I can even go to sleep while having the treatment? I feel so much better after an acupuncture treatment that I have continued going because Monica has also worked on other parts of my body (arms, shoulders, hips) for better health. (Note: this patient has received bi-weekly acupuncture treatments since 2002.)

Monica and her office staff are so nice that it is a pleasure to go. Monica is so gentle and kind and really listens to you. She has even called me at home to check up on me when I have been ill. I have never had that kindness from a doctor before. I could go on more but I will end in saying that everyone should try acupuncture at least once!

I've suffered from migraine headaches for 30 years and have tried all sorts of medications that have been only partially effective. However, with acupuncture I have had very effective (sometimes within minutes) relief from migraine pain. I don't fully understand how it works, but for relief of pain I highly recommend it.

No only is she obviously knowledgeable about acupuncture, but she knows and can explain to you in lay terms how your body works in relation to Chinese medical techniques and practices. Over the 12 weeks I was in her care, I saw steady improvement in my energy level to the point where I felt fully functional by the time we terminated treatment. My experience with Monica @ Downtown Seattle Acupuncture clinic has been truly a great experience!  I went to see Monica for fertility issues, as I had heard fertility acupuncture could possibly help in this arena. Not going to lie, I don't like needles and was skeptical at first, but Monica made the process easy & enjoyable, and it's a very relaxing and calming way to spend 30 minutes:-). I saw results in a matter of a couple months, and now, it has been about 1 year and I believe that the combination of my fertility acupuncture treatment with Monica, along with my fertility medicine I was taking, allowed us to conceive and am happy to report that I am currently 20 weeks along in pregnancy and couldn't be happier.  Because I believe acupuncture can truly help in SO many ways, I continue to see Monica to help with stress relief, headaches and muscle pains throughout my pregnancy.  She is very knowledgeable with the science behind Chinese medicine and in my case, fertility, along with what herbs to take to regulate my body and the various foods that improve the process as well.  She not only was a great acupuncturist, but also is very personable and down to earth and I enjoy visiting and receiving treatment each month.  I would highly recommend Monica and her practice!
