How Does Acupuncture Feel?

Monica was highly recommended to me by a co-worker, and seeing her for acupuncture was one of the best decisions I've ever made! I've suffered from migraines for years, but 3 years ago they suddenly worsened. I was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, which causes dryness and chronic inflammation, increasing the frequency and intensity of my migraines. I wish I had started seeing Monica sooner! I improved dramatically, averaging 1 or 2 very mild migraines per month, instead of 3 or 4 intense ones. I got by with just taking over-the-counter pain medicine for a migraine instead of prescription medicine, which I've NEVER been able to do!! I've also cut my daily prescription migraine prevention medicine dose in half, and I'm still improving! I'm amazed, and excited to see how much better I'll get! This treatment has been life changing for me. Monica also gave me food recommendations, which have helped with my migraines and dryness as well. She is very skilled and caring. I'm so glad she was recommended to me!

In May 2008, I started receiving fertility treatments from Monica. I was only starting to get serious about fertility treatments via acupuncture. All I knew was that my husband and I had been "casually" trying to get pregnant for years and thought that a pregnancy might be off the table for us.

In early May 2008, we began the fertility treatments. Monica also worked with me to develop a plan to monitor my temperature daily and to chart my cycle using web based charting tools she had access to. July 1, 2009, we had a positive pregnancy test. I genuinely believe that Monica's treatment had a direct impact on my ability to get pregnant. I continued to see Monica sporadically throughout my pregnancy to help ensure the pregnancy went well without complications, which it did. At the end of my pregnancy, my due date came and went and I was getting antsy, so again, I turned to Monica for treatment to help induce labor. Sure enough, 24 hours after treatment, my water broke.

I would strongly recommend Monica as an acupuncture service provider. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, kind and compassionate.

I've suffered from migraine headaches for 30 years and have tried all sorts of medications that have been only partially effective. However, with acupuncture I have had very effective (sometimes within minutes) relief from migraine pain. I don't fully understand how it works, but for relief of pain I highly recommend it.

Downtown Seattle Acupuncture is such a wonderful, calming place to visit. I most highly recommend Monica Legatt. She is incredibly skilled, knowledgeable and informative. I was initially treated by her for a severe case of psoriasis. After a few treatments and herbal supplements, my skin quickly and quite beautifully cleared up!!! What a relief! The benefits of Monica's treatments extend much further than one issue, however (in my case it was my skin), acupuncture treatments have helped calm my nerves, have aided in more restful sleep at night, and just overall I feel better. I've seen various acupuncture professionals over the years (it can help with literally any health issue you might have!) and I find Monica to be quite stellar in her comprehensive, subtle and calming approach.

I had been seeing an acupuncturist for depression, low energy and digestion issues. I was unable to schedule with my regular provider so I made an appointment with Monica. It was life changing. She really took the time to listen to me and about my life. Monica explained, in detail, the theory behind acupuncture and Chinese medicine and how it could be useful specifically for me. The anticipatory guidance she gives before inserting each needle gave me a relaxed and in control feeling. Although I had been getting weekly treatments for 6 months I had never had someone get the QI! This was amazing and took my acupuncture experience to a new level. Soon, thereafter, I had intense stomach pain that I believe to have been associated with my gallstones. I left work to head home but was unable to make it to the bus. I called Monica’s office and although it was the end of the day they told me to come right in. Once there Monica gave me her full attention and began to do an intense treatment. Within twenty minutes I was feeling better. After the treatment was over she had me just relax until my husband was able to drive in to pick me up. My original appointment with Monica was meant to be a stand-in but I have yet to return to the previous provider and consider myself a loyal patient.

I have been regular client of Monica Legatt for over 10 years, and have had the most success with her. She has solved or healed issues no other medical procedure or therapy could. For example, she has helped my knees, ears, respiratory system, and other issues.

Having had multiple conversations with fertility specialists between April and September of that year who told us that my FSH levels were too high to get pregnant and that the only chance we had at a family was egg donorship or adoption, I had almost given up hope. But after speaking to a friend who had success using acupuncture to address fertility issues, I decided to give it a chance.

I first visited Monica in her office on October 18th and shared my story with her. She asked tons of questions and told me in no uncertain terms that I should not give up. I laid down on the table that day only half believing that anything she would be doing would help my chances of getting pregnant - and I was convinced that even 50% was high odds.

On October 26th, I received a call from my doctor. She told me that me that my husband and I were expecting a "miracle baby." After being given less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant on our own, we had somehow overcome the inconceivable. We had managed - with the help of acupuncture- to create a little life.

Today, we have a 12-week-old little girl who we are absolutely in love with. We tell her every day how lucky we are to have her in our lives...and every day, I think about how lucky I was to meet Monica, who helped us to bring our little miracle into the world.

I started seeing Monica after working with two other acupuncturists for infertility over the course of nine months without any success. She came highly recommended and I was impressed right away with how she explained her philosophy on treating infertility with acupuncture.
